Happy 175th, Corning! Join the Community Celebration This Wednesday, July 22nd
If you are looking for a fantastic mid-week family outing, put a big circle around Wednesday, July 22nd on your calendar! Our neighbor to the south, the iconic “Crystal City” of Corning, New York, is officially celebrating its 175th anniversary, and the entire community is invited to party.
Corning has a rich, incredible history deeply rooted in innovation, world-class craftsmanship, and community pride. From crafting the glass encasement for Thomas Edison’s lightbulb to housing world-renowned museums, it is a town that holds a special place in the heart of the Finger Lakes region.
Here is what you need to know about the evening festivities happening this July 22nd:
- Where & When: The celebration kicks off at 7:00 PM at Centennial Park, located right next to Corning Incorporated Headquarters along the river.
- Family-Friendly Fun: The event is built for all ages, featuring a lineup of great local food trucks, live music, photo opportunities, fun giveaways, and plenty of space for kids to play on the lawn.
- The Grand Finale: As night falls, the evening will wrap up with a spectacular fireworks display over the water, alongside the ceremonial lighting of the historic “Little Joe” tower.
Bring a big picnic blanket, lawn chairs, and a few glow sticks for the kids! Centennial Park offers plenty of green space, but arriving a little early ensures you get a great spot near the food trucks and a prime view for the fireworks show.
Whether you live in Steuben County or want to take a short evening drive down from the central lakes, it is going to be a memorable, community-centered night under the stars. Hope to see you there!
